WINE REGION
Thracian Valley
Country Bulgaria

Thracian Valley lowlands is a very hot and ancient wine-growing region in the south-central part of Bulgaria with a rich history based on archaeological findings and handed-down texts, suggest a beginning already 5,000 years ago. The climate is temperate-continental with a good distribution of precipitation throughout the growing season. It is well-known for its powerful, well-structured and complex red wines made from the local Mavrud and Rubin as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Cabernet Franc, but in the in recent years Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat and Gewürztraminer have produced some very promising results as well as sparkling wines which are among the best in the country. The region is the most recognised one abroad and has been under the radar for international wine investments with some already done by famous Bordeaux wine producer and investor.
